Take some classic hummus and add your very own twist to the flavor profile. I added basil and balsamic to create one new flavor and sesame oil for another. Both are easy to do and really make your plain hummus unique!
There are two kinds of people who cook. Those who do it because if they don't they'll pass out, and those who genuinely love to get in the kitchen and create something that will be appreciated by others.
Which one are you? As much as I cook each day, I still fall into the latter category. I love the taste of food, the smell and the inspiration I collect from some of the ingredients I find.
I also enjoy the process and then watching everything disappear from the families plates. I'm glad my kids are growing up enjoying some foods that I either never had access to, or just wasn't introduced to them as a child.
I do 99% of the cooking in the house and that's fine by me. My wife can cook but I think I freak her out because if she decides to make something, I'm right there by her shoulder giving annoying pointers.
I remember we took a class together and it was actually fun and we ended with no injuries and still friends. As I cook I always like to have a glass of wine beside me, I must add this is just for dinner and not when I'm cooking for the blog at nine in the morning.
Picking the kids up from school later in the day smelling like a vineyard might not be the best thing for my credibility as a parent. But back to snacks and snacking as you cook.
We're talking light nibbles like classic hummus to get you through the time when the pans are cooking on the stove and the kids are outside playing. It doesn't need to be a big production, just pop open a container or two with some pita bread and you're all good.
Even though Sabra has a long list of flavors, the classic can be the most fun. Make your own toppings with whatever you have in the fridge, like my basil and balsamic or toasted almonds and sesame oil.
It's like the meal before the real meal, let's call it the #unofficialmealCheers to a new week friends, we can do this!
This post was sponsored by Sabra Hummus. As always my thoughts and opinions are my own, and I'm grateful to work with brands I admire.
