Bring your family and friends together for an easy but elegant Christmas Tea Party!
I can’t believe we’re almost saying goodbye to 2017! Time seriously needs to slow down, or maybe I’ve just been having too much fun parenting and doing grown-up things lately.
But as sad as it can be too see another year pass, the family and I love Christmas time and all of the warm and fuzzies that it brings with it.
Like most families, traditions are popular around the holidays. One that we have is to meet up with some friends and their kids at a local tea house, or sometimes in our home because it’s so hard to get a reservation and celebrate Christmas with a traditional English tea party.
If you’ve never been exposed to afternoon tea, it’s when you bring out your finest dishes and silverware and the kids get the chance to act like proper grown-ups. Everyone dresses up in their best clothes and sometimes hats are worn.
The food works well because everything served at a tea party is miniature. Sandwiches are crust-free and delicious desserts are all bite-size because cramming a giant chocolate eclair into your face would not be considered proper etiquette back in the day!
The food is just a small part of it though, bringing friends together is the main goal and the holidays are the perfect time for giving and sharing. That’s why Capital One’s new Savor SM card is perfect for hosting a tea party like this one, or anytime you want to get together with special people.
Use your Savor card to earn cash back, including 3% on dining, 2% on groceries and 1% on all other purchases. So whether you go to a tea room or host it in your own home like I did, you’ll still be able to earn rewards if you have the Savor card!
THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN HOSTING YOUR TEA PARTY
Keep things simple and don’t try to make everything yourself. Source a great local bakery and see if they sell everything in miniature style. Focus on making the sandwiches which are really easy and can be made quickly.
