I can't even begin to imagine how much chips and dips will be eaten this weekend when everyone's watching Super Bowl 2015. I have no interest in football, but tons of interest in food.
That's why my party would have some of the most awesome dips for munching on, including this Cheesy Crab Dip with Bacon. It's all about the food people.
You might also be interest in our salmon bites, check it out.
Dips are so much fun to make, there's practically no way to screw them up. Even if your dip has several colorful layers and looks perfect, once someone sticks a chip in it and mixes it up all bets are off.
That's why dips are never judged on looks, I've never heard someone scream "Wow that's such a pretty dip" because It's all about the flavor when you make a dip.
Luckily this crab dip does have flavor...so much flavor from good things like Gruyere cheese, Cabot Premium Farmhouse Cheddar, bacon and ricotta. If crab isn't your thing, you could easily switch it to shrimp but definitely stay with the seafood theme.
There's something about those two melted cheeses and the flavor of seafood that makes this dip as good as it is.
I split the mixture into two of these little 6 inch skillets but if you don't secretly hoard cast iron like me you can use an 11 x 7 inch baking dish. Chips, baked crostini and crackers are all fair game to use as shovels for picking up the gooey app, just make sure you have plenty because people would gladly use their fingers for this one.
