There's hot dog buns, then there's hoagie buns. Side by side the hot dog bun just doesn't pass muster against the hoagie.
That's why I looked in way more stores than I should have to find the perfect bun for these Bratwurst Hoagies.
But this post isn't just about the bun, look at what's inside them. Do you see those giant juicy bratwurst sausages peeking out from beneath the blanket of caramelized onion, bacon and melted pepper jack cheese?
Super Bowl is no more but summer is right around the corner, and you need to make these ridiculously over-the-top sandwiches right after you wipe the cobwebs from your grill. Once you get that grill fired up, you can start working on your resume to be the new Johnsonville Grillmaster!
Doesn't it look like the best job in the world? I'd be happy just to be able to sit in the drivers seat of that ginormous sausage truck and eat brats All. Day.
Long! You have to promise me one thing if you do get the job, make these bratwurst hoagies covered in onion bacon and spicy pepper jack cheese and tell everyone where you saw the recipe!

Bratwurst hoagies covered in caramelized onions, crispy bacon bits and gooey melted pepper jack cheese.
