Bratwurst sausages with southern style collard greens, baked beans and a smoky barbecue sauce on top. This is the perfect way to enjoy some juicy brats and celebrate Bratsgiving!
Bratsgiving is a thing, I swear. Johnsonville invented it so it must be true, with them being the bratwurst kings pretty much.Let me explain.
National Bratwurst Day is August 16th and Johnsonville would love for you to celebrate the day with truck loads of juicy brats and share them with some of the best friends and family you have.
Crank up your grill and choose one of the many awesome flavors of Johnsonville Bratwurst sausages, I went with original flavored bratwurst but I'll be keeping an eye out for the Hatch Chili Brats because they sound amazing and you know I'm all about the heat!
My last Johnsonville recipe, Hoagies smothered in melted gooey cheese and caramelized onions was a total winner!
But this time we're going bun-free. Bowls are all the rage these day. I love how everything is in a central spot and you can basically pick it up and chow down like a crazy person.
No need for lots of silverware. That's why these BBQ Brat Bowls are perfect for backyard parties.I used collard greens as the base for my bowl and cooked them super fast with some bratwurst crumbles and chicken stock.
And you can't have a BBQ without baked beans people!Once those brats have that awesome golden color on their skin, let them rest for 10 minutes before slicing into them. That way the juice will stay inside the sausage and that means mega flavor.
I always know that the sausage is cooked perfectly when I bite into it and it kinda cracks when you pierce the casing. Cover it in your favorite BBQ sauce and Go. To. Town!Check out my video below, it shows each step to make this BBQ bowl, it's so darn easy!
