Lately, I’ve been on some kind of smoothie crusade. The kids love them and they’re turning out to be the perfect after school pre-homework belly filler, which is fine by me because frozen fruit accounts for 90% of ingredients in my smoothies.
Not all smoothies need to be fruit based though. Take a look at these ten best recipes from this week’s round up and I challenge you to find one that you don’t like.
Usually, I’d stop by Jamba Juice and easily drop $15 for three smoothies, but now I’ve started to buy those giant bags of frozen berries from Costco. All I need to do is add some flavored kefir, a splash of milk and orange juice and we are good to go. Homemade smoothies at a fraction of the cost!
Smoothies are another way to sneak in some veggies like kale or spinach, sometimes the color gets a little funky but this seems to make my kids laugh and it turns out drinking gross looking things is a cool thing to do.
Summer is around the corner so make sure your blender is ready to go and the freezer is well stocked with bags of frozen fruit. Another tip, invest in a couple of really good screw-top containers with straws. Trust me, shirts don’t like smoothies!
