2013 was a great year for Foodness Gracious. My blog is climbing in the right direction, it went through a new design and it helped generate other really fun work projects with some fantastic brands and people. My goals for 2014 are to build on those experiences, work on improving my photography and continue to bring you some amazing recipes. I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who reads Foodness Gracious, I love hearing from readers who try my recipes and have success.
Happy New Year to all of you. Here’s my top 10 most popular recipes from 2013…
#1 Gingerbread Magic Cake
Ever since I saw White On Rice Couple’s version of a plain magic cake, I vowed to try and turn more recipes into magic cake form. This gingerbread version went crazy on Pinterest and it continues to be number one for me.
#2 Pumpkin Magic Cake
Another magic cake, but this time it was for Thanksgiving and packed full of fall flavors. Magic cake is a great alternative to other bars like brownies or blondies.
#3 Pumpkin Spice Caramel Cronuts
This was probably my own personal favorite recipe I made this year. Nobody could escape the cronut craze and its croissant-like flaky layers of butter coupled with the look and taste of a donut. I topped it with a caramel sauce…enough said.
#4 Maple Roasted Root Veggies
Simple recipe and fantastic to eat alongside all of those holiday main courses. Roasted root veggies lightly glazed with a balsamic and maple syrup reduction.
#5 Chocolate Caramel Pumpkin Bark
Caramel doesn’t have to be basic. I added 70% dark chocolate to this bark and topped it with roasted almonds, pumpkin seeds and a healthy dose of crunchy sea salt.
#6 Avocado Dijon Pasta
This salad was a category winner in a competition sponsored by The California Avocado Commission and It was easy to see why. Penne pasta coated with a Dijon dressing and chunks of ripe California avocados. A perfect side for a summer BBQ cookout.
#7 Pecan Pie Magic Cake Bars
The magic cake was really popular this year and I can’t wait to try and make it using some summer flavors soon. This version was twisted into believing it was a pecan pie.
#8 Burrata Stuffed Burgers
What would a top 10 be without a burger? Thankfully this thick, juicy burger was a winner! My favorite burger has to have a healthy dollop of blue cheese and maybe some bacon. An amazing flavor combo!
#9 Pumpkin Caramel Panna Cotta
Another seasonal dessert post and one I’ll definitely be making again. A rich and creamy panna cotta with a caramel sauce layer at the bottom.
#10 Mixed Herb Potato Salad
This was a recipe from July fourth. I love chunky potato salads, and this one was made even better by adding handfuls of fresh dill. I kept the dressing thin enough to just coat the potato chunks. Perfect as a summer side.
What a great collection of recipes! Here’s to many more in 2014. Happy New Year!
