With a new year facing us head on and lots of resolutions to keep, I for one will be focusing on breakfast! Waking up to a glass of refreshing Florida Orange Juice for breakfast is a great way to start the day especially when it’s back-to-school time. Not only does it taste amazing, one 8-ounce adult serving of 100% orange juice provides many essential nutrients for our bodies, such as vitamin C, potassium and Vitamin D (in fortified juices). These nutrients help our immune system perform just as it should leading to a healthier lifestyle, and with zero added sugar, this is definitely a routine we should think about getting into.

Did you also know that each 8-ounce serving of 100% orange juice is naturally made up of 90% water? Hydration is also a key player in taking care of our bodies so between drinking Florida OJ and water on a regular schedule, you can be sure you’re hydrating efficiently.

As an avid baker, Florida Orange Juice is also a great ingredient to add to recipes, both sweet and savory. It works well with grilled meats, seafood, cakes, scones and even cocktails. Making these orange muffins

This recipe is a classic bakery method of mixing the dry ingredients with the wet to form a batter. It’s that batter that will be added to paper lined muffin pans to produce these yummy orange muffins. Once you have filled each muffin paper, they need to be topped with the buttery brown sugar streusel which will become crunchy like shortbread once they come out of the oven.

Tips for making the best orange muffins

  • Use Florida Orange Juice!
  • Bake the muffins at 400 degrees as the high heat will make them rise quickly to create that domed look on a muffin that we all love.
  • Make sure your butter is at room temperature. This will make it easier for the butter and eggs to mix together.
