Everyone should own a fig tree or if you're like me and don't own one, then make sure you have a neighbor who does.
The kids and I were out walking the dog recently when our neighbor asked if they'd like to help pick some figs from her tree. "I'm not sure what you could do with them?" she said, but I knew exactly what I'd be using them for.
Lately, I've been hitting the yogurt fairly hard especially for breakfast and sometimes lunch. Not as much as my boy who would easily demolish a 6 pack per day if I let him.
This is my perfect breakfast guys. I can't do cereal
It has juicy raspberries and blueberries.
The figs were so ripe. When I sliced them in half, they were full of juice and super sweet!
With all of this soft fruit, we need some crunch amongst that creamy french vanilla yogurt.
This is where you add some of your favorite granola, mine had pecans in it. Have you seen the choice of granola available in those grocery store bulk bins?
It's so cool and overwhelming at the same time. Go to town with all of the flavors but don't forget to write the codes on the bags...yeah checker's hate that and so will the grumpy people in line behind you.
Because the pecans were tiny and I love nuts, enter toasted almonds. I toasted them myself in a dry pan with nothing else.
Don't walk away from them, no seriously don't! I promise you they will burn in a nano second and your kitchen will smell like weird incense for days.
If you're contemplating a break up from cereal, I say do it, your mornings should be so much better than a cold soggy mess. You can totally adapt the toppings but keep to the soft and crunchy ratio.
Don't forget to scope out your neighbors yards for free produce either.
My favorite breakfast. Creamy vanilla yogurt with fresh berries, figs, crunchy granola and honey.
