I’m slow getting this post out today, but it’s been a crazy weekend.
Friday was Trunk or Treat at the kids school, and after four years we actually decorated our car and handed out candy. It was quite the eye opener being on the other side. There were lots of great costumes and we even won a gift card for our shark themed trunk.
I made fins out of chicken wire, covered them in newspaper and spray painted them with a stone textured paint. The teeth were cut from white foam board and dripped with fake blood. The kids all loved it and I was surprised at how many actually knew about Jaws, the movie. Can you believe it’s been 40 years since the movie was made?
The rest of the weekend was spent at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. Some of you may know that my daughter has type one diabetes. Every year she attends Camp Conrad Chinnock high in the mountains of the San Bernardino forest. The camp has become a very special place for us and somewhere for Miranda to be with other type 1 kids and some amazing counselors. The camp survives on fundraising and donations and once a year we all meet to look back on great memories and to raise money for more months of fun in the mountains.
You can always rely on kids to dish out the truth, and maybe a little bit of Jimmy Kimmel to help them along.
We’ve all been exposed to the silliness of the photo booth. Sober or not usually they’re funny, but these people used a booth to help promote dog adoption. could the animals look any cuter for real?
Bananas Foster Upside Down Cake. heck yes!!
Intimidated in the kitchen? This list from Epicurious is bang on and I especially agree with number two, scribble on those books people.
Boozy cider drinks for the fall!
Pull out that slow cooker from the back of the cupboard and make life easier this week. Start with this Cheesy Tortellini with a giant side of garlic bread.
Have a great week friends!
