Wow, I know it’s cliche but where did summer go to? My daughter has one full week left before skipping of to fourth grade with her new clothes, books and of course her back to school lunch, so it’s time to Rock The Lunchbox and make lunch time fun time!
I make Miranda’s lunch every morning when she’s at school and believe me it can be hard sometimes. Having to keep the ideas and choices fresh as well as smart is a challenge. But I’m ready for this new school year, I have this really cool bento lunch box from Laptop Lunches which I’m digging because it can hold lots of different snacks, and each colorful container is a measurement which lets you know if your kid is getting the right amount of nutrition. Usually I’d have to wrap everything on separate sandwich bags which works but the bento approach is just way more fun for a kid, don’t you think?
I also received a really cool stainless steel tin from U-Konserve which I filled with leftover linguine pasta, but I can see this as a great vessel for some yogurt and berries. The lid fits nice and tight but still easy for little fingers to open, so I wont get that excuse about not being able to open something (yup that’s happened). BPA free and leak-proof too! Last but not least if you love making school lunches so much, check out this book written just for that reason. The book titled, “The Best Homemade Kids Lunches On The Planet” is written by Laura Fuentes and you can read more about it here on her blog Super Glue Mom.

Picky eaters here, so I try to make lunch fun but nutritious. On pizza night, I make calzones to send in school lunches the next day. I also send soup in thermoses, with a hunk of bread and some cheese.
My daughter gets so tired of sandwiches…we mostly pack up salads with some protein and always a little treat!
Oh, wow, that’s a frickin awesome lunch box. I don’t have any kids myself, but I used to love it when my mom sent a hard boiled egg in my lunch with a teeny tiny salt shaker. It was so fun to peel the egg, flip the top open on the salt and sprinkle just a little bit on each bite. I’ll have to call and tell her how I loved those eggs.
Mia’s favorite is a BLT sandwich (no tomato, mustard no mayo) made by dad.
I try to limit the pbj to once a week, but if I try something new I serve it at home first to make sure they will eat it.
My kids are very bored with my lunches because I need to change it up more. They love fruit, salami or turkey and some veggies. I loved seeing your pictures of your lunch.

My son’s go-to lunch is a turkey sandwich, blue quinoa tortilla chips, yogurt squeezie and seasonal fruit – an apple today :) I love the bento box idea! Would be so much easier and greener than packing things separately!

She used to take soup but her school’s microwave broke and aparently they won’t get a new one.
