Cooking is a hobby that a lot of people enjoy! It brings people together, allows you to try new things and when you eat out, you have a new level of appreciation for the person who is working hard cooking for you.
If you are trying to improve your cooking ability, there are many simple things that you can do to take it to the next level. You can prepare the ingredients in advance, you can use premium ingredients, such as smoked sea salt and pair your courses with wine or cocktails, along with a range of other methods.
Online courses are also very beneficial, should you want to spend more time improving your cooking ability.
To help you improve your cooking, we have written our guide to three things to help take your cooking to the next level.
Preparation is Key
When you have a spare 30 minutes during the day, before you are cooking, try and prepare as much as you can. Cut the onions, grate the carrots, chop the garlic and prepare all the herbs that you are going to use.
The more preparation that you can do, the easier it will be when it comes to cooking your meal. If you are trying something completely new, preparing in advance can take a lot of the stress away.
Use Premium Ingredients
It may cost you a little more, but you’ll be amazed at the difference certain premium ingredients can make to the meal you are going to cook. This isn’t always the case, but using premium herbs will add extra flavor, premium veg will last longer in the fridge and when you are preparing they will feel better quality.
Lemons are a great example, cheaper lemons are often smaller, go out of date quicker and have less juice inside - you pay more, but you get more with better lemons.
Don't Skip on Ingredients
This tends to happen a lot when you speak to home cooks. It may be tempting to skip on ingredients to save money or because you don’t think they are required, but if a recipe says it needs it, it needs it.
More often than not, the ingredient you are thinking of dropping may seem like nothing, but it will add a lot of flavour or a certain dynamic to the dish when eating it. It would be better to go for a cheaper version of the ingredient you are going to skip than leave it out altogether.
Cooking is great fun and by applying some simple changes, you can quickly take your cooking to the next level - you can use AI to enhance your cooking as well.
Once you’ve mastered a recipe, invite your friends over for a three-course meal, games night, a mojito cocktail and have a good catchup as you show off your improved cooking ability.
